Counselling And Therapy For Individuals
Individual Therapy
Life can feel overwhelming at times. You might be navigating a specific difficulty, or simply carrying a sense that something isn’t quite right. Individual therapy offers a space that is entirely yours, where you can begin to understand what’s happening for you, at your own pace, and in your own way.
I work with adults of all ages, and with a wide range of experiences and challenges. People often come to therapy when they are facing anxiety, low mood or depression, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, trauma, phobias, or obsessive patterns such as OCD. Others come during times of change, perhaps a life transition, a shift in identity, or a growing awareness that old ways of coping are no longer working.
You don’t need to have a clear “problem” to begin. Sometimes it’s enough to know that something feels stuck, confusing, or difficult to carry alone.
A relational and active approach
At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together. I offer a warm, grounded and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and begin to feel understood. Being truly heard, often perhaps for the first time in this way, can in itself be powerful and restorative.
Alongside this relational depth, I also work actively. I won’t simply sit back and listen. I will gently challenge you where it’s helpful, helping you to notice patterns in how you think, feel, and respond. Together, we can begin to make sense of the strategies you’ve developed over time, and whether they are still serving you now.
Drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I can support you in identifying unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviours, and in finding practical ways to shift them. This might involve learning new ways to respond to anxiety, breaking cycles of avoidance, or building more balanced and compassionate ways of thinking.

Understanding patterns and creating change
Many of the difficulties we experience are not random. They often have roots in earlier experiences, relationships, or ways we have learned to cope. In therapy, we can gently explore these patterns, not to blame or dwell in the past, but to understand how they are still shaping your present.
With this understanding comes choice.
You may begin to notice where you feel stuck in certain roles, where you prioritise others over yourself, where fear holds you back, or where you repeat dynamics in relationships that leave you feeling hurt or unseen. Therapy can help you step out of these cycles and begin to respond differently.
Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen. With the right support, it becomes possible to feel more in control, more connected to yourself, and more able to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Working with a wide range of experiences
I support clients with many different concerns, including:
- Anxiety and overwhelm • Depression and low mood
- Trauma and difficult past experiences • Relationship and attachment difficulties
- Grief and loss • Phobias and fears
- OCD and intrusive thoughts • Life transitions and identity changes
- Low self-esteem and self-worth • Patterns of over-responsibility or burnout
This list is not exhaustive. If something matters to you, it is welcome in the therapy room.
A space for you
Therapy is not about being “fixed.” It is about understanding yourself more deeply, finding new ways of coping and relating, and creating space for the life you want to live.
Whether you are looking for support through a specific difficulty or a deeper exploration of yourself, individual therapy can offer a place to begin.
